Truck Driver Training
Course Description
The Truck Driver Training program covers the practical aspects of the truck driving industry. Classroom instruction enables students to become proficient in the knowledge and application of all Department of Transportation Regulations, including rules set forth by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR). Instruction in map reading, dispatch, trip planning, and log book rules and recording is included as well. The student will receive preparation and training for passing the Class "A" Commercial Drivers License (CDL) test.
Range instruction covers maneuvering of vehicles such as straight, forward, backing, serpentine, turning, and the placement of vehicles. Training in trailer drop and hook and proper vehicle inspection is also included.
Road instruction meets all requirements set forth by government agencies and industry standards. Training involves loaded and empty trailers, semi's, vans, flats, and doubles. Trucks are both cab over and conventional class "8" tractors.

Special Requirements
Any applicant wishing to enroll in Truck Driving Training must first pass the Tennessee Technology Center at Morristown's Technology Foundations Examination. A MVR report and DOT physical must be competed prior to enrollment as well as a drug screen test.
